Student News
News for 2010: It's been a great summer of "Summer Stock."
COURTNEY
BASSETT has been
performing in 'SWONDERFUL a Gershwin Review, directed by Ray Roderick
and choreographed by my fellow
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST original cast member Vince Pesce at Pittsburgh
CLO. And . . . COURTNEY got her Equity Card!
ROD
BROGAN not only did a
show at Bard Summerscape, but managed to find time to get married
and run off on his honeymoon.
COREY
MASKLEE had a busy
summer playing multiple roles in MAME, WILL ROGER'S FOLLIES, and
PETER PAN at Mt. Gretna Theater.
He's also just starting his first year at Penn State and
has already
been called back for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.
AMY
BLACKMAN got the wonderful
opportunity to perform at the storied St. Louis MUNY (It was around
when I was in
college . . . also
at U. of Michigan like AMY) in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, TITANIC
and THE SOUND OF MUSIC. And . . . just got cast in one
of her
dream
roles, The Baker's Wife in INTO THE WOODS at the University
of Michigan.
AND COMING UP . . .
JON FICO will be appearing in
this year's NYMF in THE
MOST RIDICULOUS STORY EVER TOLD.
For any of you who missed
the beautiful film OPUS JAZZ when it appeared on PBS, (starring
GEORGINA PAZCOQUIN,
the magnificent
ballerina/Anita in WEST SIDE STORY SUITE at New York
City Ballet) Friends of the High Line is presenting
a free public
screening
of the film on Friday September 10 at 7p.m. You can
link in to see and hear a great TV interview and performance
with the fabulous CONNIE EDINGER
on Channel
69/WFMZ.
ANNA
LEWGOOD will be scaring
all the children as the SAS Bodyguard or Head of Security for Prince
John in "Hood" this October.
For those of you who know Anna, you know how
terrifying she can be.
TINA
XENOS (who is one of
my "miracle students")
is a finalist in a showcase coming up this
fall for a comic monologue
she wrote. It may not be a singing gig, but
TINA is one funny broad.
I look forward to adding more news as you send
it to me . . .
